Cantref, near Brecon

20-22 November 2009

We have just returned from our White Water Weekend.  Water levels were high which made for some challenging conditions.  Information about this event is detailed below should you wish to participate in a future training weekend.

This was a sociable weekend aimed at all those paddlers who hold at least 2* (or are paddling at the level of 2*) and keen to develop their white water skills.  To get the most from the training you needed to be confident in your 2* skills, be an enthusiastic paddler and have a reasonable level of paddle fitness.  You will require winter paddling kit (base layers, wet or dry suit, and cag).

The cost of the weekend was £60 (included bunkhouse accommodation / catering).  Alternatively £35 if not staying in the bunkhouse - no catering included.  Usually this later option is for Brecon CC members.

The Biblins weekend was a trip down memory lane for me personally, as I last visited the place as a Scout in 1975, but the 2 star kayak team saw the Wye from angles that I never contemplated as a young lad way back then. It was a fantastic weekend but a hectic one too.

Don't be in any doubt; those of you have not yet joined the biggest weekend in the NACC calendar; it is a heck of a lot of fun but equally there's a huge syllabus to get through especially with the new 2 star format and that's before you have to push the hoover and/or the mop round on Sunday evening.
