If you’ve never been canoeing before and fancy having a go, then North Avon Canoe Club could be just the place for you. We actively encourage new paddlers of all ages to try the sport.

Once you’ve acquired some basic skills, why not join one of our regular training sessions on the river or in the pool? These are great for developing paddlers' confidence and practising the techniques that will help you get the most out of your time on the water.

BCU LogoNorth Avon Canoe club is affiliated to the sports governing body the British Canoe Union (BCU). This organisation along with the Welsh Canoeing Association (WCA) and Scottish Canoe Association (SCA) represent the sport in Government and help negotiate access to the UK network of rivers and waterways.

We recommend club paddlers with their own boats should join the BCU. Amongst the wide range of benefits they provide, the 3rd party insurance and the waterways license needed to paddle on the Bristol Avon are particularly useful. Club members and those using club kit, will receive some of these benefits under the club's affiliation.
